I have an interest in science fiction and religion. In both, alternate realities have been created that test possibilities. They offer characters with whom we can form bonds of different kinds. The characters can provide guidance, influence, and insight into possible decisions and actions we can make in the course of our lives.

In various cultural art forms, there has been a merging of sorts between science fiction and religion in that some characters from diverse mythologies have been recreated as biological aliens with longer life spans and technologies beyond that of our human civilizations. This was done decades ago in books like Chariots of the Gods and in the stories of the Eternals written and illustrated by Jack Kirby.

Science, science fiction, and religion are products of the human mind. Stories are, in some way, meant to be playgrounds where we learn, teach, share knowledge across generations, anticipate situations, and practice various skills. Stories can bring us together by producing commonalities and shared values, or they can tear us apart by producing conflict. Stories are the building blocks of civilizations.

In my Substack blog, I want to create playgrounds using stories. I will share artwork and essays on culture, art, history, science fiction, mythology, and other topics I enjoy exploring and learning about. I will post images of my artwork in progress and written work from my novels in development, as well as essays or thoughts on random aspects of my creative work.
